You may not get a doctor to agree but some of us believe that a strong immune system helps and allows for quicker recovery (6-24 months). Besides eating healthy, stop smoking cigs, reduce alcohol consumption esp beer and ales, take vitamins (C, B, Folic Acid, Zinc, A, supplements, etc), get more sleep, reduce stress and exercise often, Avoid recreational drugs and un-safe sex during this recovery period too.
