Adhesion complications...

Help!!!  I have history of many prior abdominal surgeries, and then a hyst, and now I am told I have adhesions due to many pelvic surgeries. History of PCOD BAD! Endometriosis, hysterectomy in 05'. Now my stomach feels like it is on fire, I have to burp and pass gas alot. Could adhesions be causing this? What could this be? I don't know if a surgeon or any dr will treat me, as I dont have any insurance, and dont have SSI or Medicaid yet. Can these adhesions be life threatening? Is a doctor obligated to treat me? I am on a "indigant care program". I am in severe pain, and my mom wont take me to dr. I cant stand this! I woke up at 130 am today and my stomach was on fire.

Please click on my name to pull up my profile. I had horrible adhesions... they were collapsing my colon, thus I was Dx. with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but it was all due to adhesions from my radical hysterectomy.

Please find my journal entry on Surgical adhesions and read or print it and read. If your doctor gives you the go-ahead to try this type of deep massage, it just may be the answer. It is like a well-kept secret and I cannot tell you how many women seem to suffer from this problem. It was an exercise coach who literally saved me!

If you cannot find the entry, let me know... I will add this thread to my "Watch list" in case you respond.

Take care,

Mary

Im glad your adjent is helping, and the person at clinic is going out of their way to help too, not all are so kind, yes the red tape is terrible, the cat scan will give a diagnosis, yes the adhesions could be the root cause of this. so you are saying you dont have ovaries correct?

the adhesions can be surgically removed, here is how my dr explained it to me about scar tissue same applys for adhesions, each surgery of course creates risk , for more, the surgeons goal is to try to get the problem down to 75% its unlikely that even if they remove all that more will not develop.be it scar tissue or adhesions.

I forgot to tell you that all of my female plumbing was removed at the time of hysterectomy. I dont have any innards left, so it has to be adhesions that are causing this mess?

Hi, thanks for the feedback.  I did end up in ER last nite, and of course they loaded me up with morphine, and then said I needed a cat scan, and sent me home. In the state where I live, an individual has to be recieving SSI benefits BEFORE he/she can get Medicaid! I know, thats all backwards and isn't right, but unfortunately that is how it is here.  So, my person who is trying to help me in the referral dept of the low income clinic where I have to go for medical care calls me this am, and says that the general surgeon who is hopefully going to see me wants 2 cat scans...1 without dye, and one with.  I will keep you posted. Thanks for your help.

Hi there hop I can help,

I just helped another lady very similar to you. My own surgery was done in two parts first the hyterectomy, uterus and cervix, I KNEW I needed my right ovary out it had big reoccuring cycsts that landed me in er multiple times, begged dr to deal with it all at once but no...had to go back a year later, countless pills later  and have what is called a BSO big word is bilateral sapingo Ooperectomy

means removal of ovary and tubes. Addhesions can be serious if they comprimise the bowel.
YES ER drs are obligated to treat you, they will tell you your diagnosis load you up with pain pills tell you you need surgery and sorry but send you home. Only if you had fever, distendeded abdomen or other symptoms to indicate bowel was in trouble then they would do a emergency surgery I dont think you have that to worry about.

Also I want you to know that adhessions, endometrial tissue and scar tissue all cause very similar symptoms.

You can and should go to er. they MUST by law treat you. Im very sorry th pcod was not dealt with at time of hyster.

Try hoat soaks in the tub, try ice packs on the ovarian area , heat and ice alternated is good for pain..I know ice sounds like it would not work, I thought that but it does infact help alot. this is only temporary Get to the medicaid office speak with your adjent ( forget their correct title) tell them how serious, Go in person much more effective than via phone.
