HYSTERECTOMY NEEDED?

Dear friends, I have been suffering from prolonged and heavy bleeding during menstrual periods which sometimes continues for 15 days or more. The doctor had performed a D&C and found that I have atypical hyperplasia of endometrium. After that I was on Tab Regesterone 5mg from last October to April. After that from July the heavy bleeding has again started. So the doctor has prescribed same medicine for me. Last month I expelled a mass of white tissue on the second day of my periods after getting a sever pain in my lower abdomen. After that from the fifth day I was on the same medicine again. Now the doctor says that I should opt for hysterectomy surgery as the problem will recurr if I stop medicine. Is it true? Pl suggest urgently.

Like any surgery,,,no matter how minor or how very serious we are asked to sign all those papers because NO procedure is with out risks right down to a simple tooth extraction....

Meli sounds like you got almost all negative reactions/side effects Im so sorry this happened to you. Im also sorry you were forced to get a hyster with out knowing any and all possible options,,,,many times there are options,,,,most not all by anymeans of the women who come here have exhausted the options...

Most women do not have illness and complications that make them contiue to see their gyn,,,I havent seen mone since post op ..yes I know better than anyone I should still get a pap as it is the only way to detect vaginal cancer,,,it is just something Ive put off, no one in my family has ever had any female cancer...we almost all have had hysterectomys due to endometriosis/andeomyosis and heavy bleeding with pain...seems to be genetic and yes we all had the multiple d/cs etc....personally I guess Im lucky my only side efffect is a rare hot flash but Im definaltley menopausal so that is normal I used bio identical hormones for a while discontinied but am considering going back on estrogen to help with bone density,

Keep in mind that all Drs make good money off all surgerys for example If you or I was to go to a podiatrist and complain of foot pain today Im betting they would find something wrong with our feet,
this is why we must advocate for our selfes, read , resurch ask questions ,

One thing that has come around since you had your hyster is theDaVinci method ..I have not heard of one women be unhappy with the results,,,of course there is surgical pain , post op recovery and instant menopause, it is simply something that must be dealt with after a hysterectomy,

Have you Meli seen a Nurse Practioner who specialises in bIHRT? it is all they do they are a new breed of "specialists" Most of the women on here find them to be especially helpful as unlike a gyn this is simply all they do they are able to prescribe and or refere if needed,

Please dont stop trying life is short I hate to see you be miserable for the rest of yours.

and of course a hysterectomy as any surgery should always be last option.

Please, please, please do not just rush into a hysterectomy! I was forced into one at the age of 27 and my life has never been the same since. For one I almost died from the sugery and for two, there is a very long list of major complications/illness' that come with a hysterectomy. Some doctor's push for a hysterectomy because they make good money from them and will continue making more money off of you, because of the side affects and complications. If interested I have tons of info on hysterectomy consequences and I will share more of my story if you would like. Just please do yourself a favor and at least seek a second opinion.

Hi Mumun

Sorry for all your going through,,,been though similar. Atypical hyperplasia jst means thick uterine lining..

Theres someting Im reading between the lines abot your Drs demeanor that I do not like....there is never only ONE choice of medication for this type of case. It sond very mch like a hysterectomy may be your best option.

However never ever consent for this without getting at least one more opinion...ask your friends/co-workers etc who they see, its the best way to find a good specialist of any kind.

Please ask your Dr about the DaVinci Robotic Hysterectomy its the very best most modern method quicker recovery less invasive.....very expensive so check w your insurance co,

If you have any more questions Im here for you. If it ends up that you will have the surgery please pm me I can walk you threw it.....tons of pre and post op advice.

hugs...this too shall pass
