you do not mention your age...are you in peri-menopause? My Mom went through this and had such heavy bleeding she was anemic...did the dnc and the dr. told her an hysterectomy was a must...she declined and though it went on for a while longer she managed it and when she was through the change all was ok...she got to keep her uterus and organs...her dr. told her "you will be back for the hysterectomy" but she didn't...and she does not have the issues I have from having a hysterectomy....she's 20 years older then me and can do alot more then I can...so I would try EVERYTHING else before having a hysterectomy....perhaps see a naturopathic dr. and see if they can help you because it means our system is out of balance...the hysterectomy option is always there if/when you decide it's what you want to do...but be VERY sure because the changes are forever! Good luck!
Unfortunately, tubals can cause heavier and prolonged bleeding. After giving the tranexamic acid a fair trial and not getting relief, birth control pills would be worth trying versus having a hysterectomy. Another option would be an IUD such as the Mirena.
I had a hysterectomy and it causes more harm than good. The uterus and ovaries work together as a unit so any procedure that disrupts their natural functions (including removal of a part or parts) has permanent negative effects.
The doctors in your area must be more ethical than those in my area because hysterectomy as well as ovary removal (castration) occurs at alarmingly high rates where I live.
Also, the uterine ligaments are the structural supports for the pelvis so severing them to remove the uterus explains why hysterectomized women have short, thick midsections, big belllies, and tend to develop chronic back and hip pain down the road.
Bladder and bowel problems are also common since these organs are displaced once the uterus is removed.
i have had heavy bleeding, clots, etc. I use super tampons and overnight pads and soak through both to my clothes within two hours or less.have been prescribed the acid to stop bleeding but it only worked the 5 days the doctor prescribed it for and i just start back. i cant find a doctor who will do a hysterectomy even though i have 3 kids and a tubal ligation. anhy suggestions?
Hello,
For the heavy bleeding, you may need tranexemic acid or ethamsylate prescribed to stop bleeding.
One of the most effective treatments is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. You can get it prescribed.
