Sue, there is also a lot of talk about vitamin D recently. If you're having blood work done, why not add it to the panel? There are a lot of plant based options for menopausal patients. The fact you have had your uterus removed makes it even easier for you to get what you need (in my opinion because you don't have to worry about progestins).
Good luck with your dr appt. There are some good websites/organizations to give you good information as well. ACOG (American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) and NAMS (North American Menopause Society)
Thanks. I was wondering about my Thyroid. Don't have any of the usual symptoms, although kinda fatigued lately, but my mother has developed an under active thyroid in old age. I was wondering if the thyroid panel is something they do routinely as part of a yearly physical. I always have blood work done beforehand. Will talk to the Drs about it. Thanks again.
Hi Sue,,Welcome to our community!
Your best bet, is to go to Dr, (gyno) pr HRT specialist....ask/demand a full hormone blood panel,,that will tell where you stand hormone wise.
I am not a dr, however I have had many women take Black Kosch sometimes spelled Black Cosh,,its an herbal and most claim it covers the exact symptoms you have...I tried it did not work for me,,,I had to use vivelle patch (estrogen) for a year then I discontinued it and am symptom free, cept an occasional , perhaps once per week hot flash
Do not take even the herbal with out consulting you Dr. And you need the blood panel too, many many women have/develop thyroid disorders post hysterectomy..may be a good idea to get thyroid panel done while your getting hormone oanel,,that way you only get poked once !
good luck
