Hysterectomy/HRT question

I had a full open Hysterectomy about 12 years ago, when I was 36.  I was on HRT for  9 years.  I couldn't start for 18 months after the surgery due to severe endometriosis.  I went off HRT for no particular reaosn other than I felt OK w/o it.  Now I am having what I think are hot flashes at night.  My thyroid (which I have had trouble with since I was 18) is all off, I have swollen lymph nodes for 2 years.  Can you go through menopuase symptoms anyway??

YW...hearing the hot flashes are only at night sounds 4 sure like menopausal symptom,,its a very personal decison only you can make, just pleae use bio-identical if you do use hrt..dont let a dr talk you into premarine.

Im really glad to hear how you and dr are handling the lymph nodes sounds spot on correct. Im guessing a fine needle biopsy right? those are minimally invasive, ask for a topical numbing adjent if they dont offer one, it doesnt hurt too bad , similar to a really big shot,

good luck , stay in touch,,C

Thanks for the response.  Sounds like we have a lot in common.  I did post on the thyroid forum.  My ENT says the nodes have to be biopsied in Nov. if they are not down.  I had one removed about 18 months ago.  Seems like no doc is putting all my symptoms together and the hot flashes just started a few months ago.  I thought maybe I should not have gone off the HRT.  My gyn had said as long as I was feeling well it was OK but then I just was reaching for a reason for the other symptoms.  The hot flashes seem to be only at night.  Feel like I am hot from the inside out.  I will check out the black cosch!  Thanks for the tip!

Wow your letter really sounds like we could be twins,,my story is much the same alomos identical cept for time lenght, i had a total lap robotic hyster, due to endo, I did go on hrt immediatley (vivelle patch) I stayed on for 3 years then one day just decided to stop and see what happened Im basically fine a few hot flashes too, that my only menopausal symptom i also do definatley have an underactive thyroid been on symthroid forever,,will be for life no problems with the med, many do have issues w it.

What is your dr saying about the swollen lymph nodes? You know thats not normal, right? not an immediate reason to panic, but please dont assume its due to thyroid, nodes can swell for a vast amt of reasons.
Honestly I think you have two seperate issues, the thyroid/lmph if related likely are not the cause of hot flashes,
We do have a very very excelllent thryoid forum, run by a good friend of mine, it may be a good idea for you to post your thyroid possible connection w lymp system there,
Id certainly urge you to please get checked, a full blood work up and a good physical exam is in order,
Also for the hot flashes please read on Black Kosch sometimes spelled black Cosch its an herbal most stores have it, many claim it works very well especially for the flashing symptom.do please ask drs permisssion, as herbals do interact w all meds.
