Hysterectomy or not?

Hello Im new here, was just told  last week that I have cysts on both my ovaries. Left one is causing lots of pain, has 4-5 on it. But the right one has at least 6 cysts, with less pain. I was tested for infection, thyroid and for ovarian cancer, all of those tests came back great. My options are 1. take left ovary and do nothing else 2. take left, do ablation. 3. take left, take uterus, leave rt ovary so i don't go through menopause. 4. take it all, there is a chance once on the table that I might also have endometriosis.

So if anyone has any advice or experience to say please let me know. As of right now i have not decided what all im taking out or leaving in.

Thanks in advance.

I think I have decided against a Hysterectomy. Im only 32 and I am afraid of the results. However I have to have my left ovary removed for sure. I will also ask more about BC pills to help reduce the chances of more cysts and to possibly help get rid of the ones I have on my right ovary. Thanks for the replies :)

Sorry- I am not familiar with them enough to say more.  I was quite naive when I had mine so I'm glad they were benign and the laser treatment took care of them.  I know that I'm always going for a 2nd opinion before surgery - unless they say life or death.  I almost had my thyroid removed but my regular MD told me to get a 2nd opinion from another endocrinologist.  That call saved me from surgery!  Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. The cysts on the right ovary are suspected to be functional. However, on the left side I have one that is 3 cm and looks suspicious/ as in solid.  The others on the left side looked ok on the US. I am 32, and have had my tubes tied for 8 years also.

Hi -
I don't want to diagnose anything but I had "fibroid" cysts quite a few years ago and the treatment was to laser them off.  It did not require any incision as they went up through my vagina. I was hospitalized for 1 night and it was quite painless.  I wonder if that option could be explored?  Or are the cysts more serious?   Good Luck!!
