Irregular bleeding

I am a 51 year old woman and had stopped getting my periods for the last 8 months. However,  last month I had some bleeding for 3 days. I had an US done and it showed an uterine hyperplasia of 9mm.Is there any thing to worry about? Should I follow up with any more tests?

Hello, Warm welcome to our forum,

51 , adverage span for menopause to take place, usually (50-55) of course earlier or later

Im quite glad, you are a smart lady and took the bleeding as a sign to investigate...after just 8 months it could be normal, or not always err on side of caution.

Most post menopausal endometrial stripes are 0-5 mm

9 is to be investgated..YES please follow up more w obgyn,,,,suprised he/she did not mention...a biopsy would be wise. Just simply 1. to catch anything wrong early or more likely 2, to ease your mind.

This can be done via d and c, best method because tissue from all sides of uterus would be examined.

very good chance this is a side effect of hyster,,,odd things happen. maybe uterus lining simply was think and needed to bleed a bit to get rid of pre menopausal exces.

I would not worry, I would not ignore,,,if gyn dismisses you get another opinion please.
