Long Term Cervical Dysplasia

I have had a history of cervical dysplasia since I was 16. I'm now 28 and still abnormal (usually CIN1 however CIN2/3 several years ago) testing positive for high risk HPV. I've never had a normal pap. At this point I am seriously considering a hysterectomy. 12 years of biopsies every 6 months gets a little taxing emotionally and physically. Is a hysterectomy a fair option?

Oh no no. This is definitely not the "first" option. I've had 4 leeps and about 20 colposcopies all with biopsies during. I've been cut on quite a bit and I'm ready to just me done. I have 2 kids and a tubal ligation so there's no worry there. I'm definitely not just jumping to get a hysterectomy especially with the recovery time and mom obligations but the worry and slicing are getting a little tired.

What procedures have you had?  Hysterectomy is not the first line of defense, but the gynecologist who has been treating you is the one to ask.  Have you had LEEP or cervical conization?
