the only thing Id add is if your doctor doesnt prescribe preventative antibiotics Id ask for some,,,just my personal opinion ,,My mother had that type hyster and got quite an infection...after any surgery the whole body is stressed you will find your more apt to pick up a cold etc...I got broncitis after mine...just listen to me and Lonely mom..Im sure youll be fine I cant stress how important it is to do virtually nothing and rest..you may feel good and look good but your insides will be raw,.
I had the bikini cut version. Same advice, 6 weeks to heal. No heavy lifting and a lot of resting time. Just like the first post told you. Don't worry once you are past the first 6 weeks you will feel much better. Take your time and don't rush recovery. That will only cause more problems in the end.
Good Luck!
Thank you so much for the info. I was told because my uterus is so large they would have to make a bikini cut. Do you know of someone with this type of procedure? Thanks again. Brina 41
Im assuming your having a laproscopic hysterectomy as most do now a days if not please look into it..its 3 or 4 small less than 1 inch insions rather than the 6 to 8 inch bikini cut...in answer to your question..6 weeks for full recovery is adverage..the first week is very painful and hard ..buy and ice pack it helps alot...try to line up friends or family to help with housework and cooking cause for the first 2 weeks you can do nothing but rest..resting is your best friend and best way to recover properly and fully..dont lift, bend excessivly..stock up on crossword puzzles magazines what ever you like thats time passsing feet up work...and buy stool softners...the first bm is mentally difficult for most your swollen and afraid to push out bm due to pain and pain meds are constipating the stool softners counter act that...feel free any more questions pm me...btw Ive had a hysterectomy and ovaries removed..best wishes..
