Post-Hysterectomy questions

I had a partial hysterectomy about 5 weeks ago (cancer was found, a small amount, they took the uterus and cervix).  I have two questions:

1. Recently I have noticed I can "feel" my vagina, meaning, I notice the inside of my vagina, as though it's dry or slightly swollen.  It's not really painful, just noticable in a way I've never experienced before.  Is this normal?
2. My partner and I have not had sex since before the surgery.  My doctor gave us the all clear, so we began to fool around, but just being aroused gave me a cramping sensation around the area of the opening of my vagina.  It's sort of an achy pain, one I think I've had before the surgery during moments of arousal, but this time it was more intense.  Usually the sensation goes away during sex, but I wanted to make sure it's nothing to be concerned about before I go making things worse.

Thanks for any advice you can give,
R.

I would say you are having some healing pains but I am not really sure, so if it keeps up, ask your doctor. I resumed sex at 5 weeks but was told 6 weeks. We took it easy and I had no problems. So go slow and you should be fine.

Hello,
I'm sorry to hear of you diagnoses but am glad there wasn't a lot. I'm not sure what the vaginal pain is but I do know I have at times felt it. I think it is the vaginal cuff healing. 5 weeks seems early to resume having sex but if your Dr. has given you the all clear things must be healed. Go slow and if anything hurts stop! If you are really concerned call you Doctor.
Good Luck!
