I am 56 and I am so bloody freaking happy to have had my hysterectomy I would do cart wheels, if I wouldn't kill myself trying.
Im 46yrs and had to have a hysterectomy in 1985 for the same as you,but not from scarring.Every one is differant but i would never have a hyster. again if i had to.I have never been the same since.horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had cervical dysplasia when I was in my 20's - I am now in my 40's. What they did was a cone biopsy and cryosurgery to freeze all of it. Ever since then it has never come back, but recently I had a hysterectomy - nothing to do with the dysplasia though.
I just now realized you are 47 too - IMHO, it should be your personal choice, but do get a second opinion.
I would recommend getting a second opinion as well. I too had cervical dysplasia in 1999, had a cone biopsy removing most of the endo-cervical canal. I have not had a return of the dysplasia, which was also pretty severe and very close to the uterus. I am now scheduled for a hysterectomy due to fibroids, ovarian cysts and excessive bleeding and because of my history of dysplasia, my surgeon is removing everything, including the cervix. My idea is this - if you cannot have accurate testing for dysplasia, I would ask your doctor and possibly another opinion, as to what the best way for you to go is in order to prevent undetected problems. I would not be comfortable not having a thorough exam yearly. good luck to you.
Having one is a personal choice. I agree with Twilight_Princess, I would get a second opinion first and really research it. You want to be totally informed before you make your mind up for sure.
Get a second opinion and read read read about Hysterectomies. I got a second opinion before I decided on what to do.
If you are really worried about the dysplasia, by all means get a Hysterectomy.
