Has anyone ever suggested Endometiosis? I had prolapsed uterus for 7 years in different degrees ,and had terrible excruciating at times back pain....4 weeks ago I had hysterectomy and vaginal, bladder and rectal repairs..........I think the back pain is gone......I wont be certain until I am fully recovered, because you have a bit of back pain during recovery...but it is a different pain, and I think the old back pain was due to this prolapse.........I would think if you are anemic from bleeding or your quality of life is poor they may suggest a hysterectomy...........they don't do it unless really necessary because it is major surgery. Make sure you see a specialist! I had a urogynecologist surgeon.
Your periods sound just like the way mine were, I had very heavy painful bleeding with clots, with the pain in my lower back and into the legs. It was so bad that I often had to be sent home from work for the first 2 days, and I relied on percocet for the pain, as nothing else was strong enough. It was sheer hell.
Have they found any fibriods in the uterus or surrounding area? Like madge mentioned endometiosis could be a factor. The ovarian cysts are mostly likely the cause of your pain, I have had a couple on my ovaries before in fact spent the night in the hospital for one that had ruptured.
If they suggest a hysterecomy,go for it, I just had mine last month and the recovery pain is nothing compared to the suffering your going thru now. I had several doctors mention having one for the last five yrs, I was always chicken an was willing to put up with the menstral pain, pretty stupid on my part but I had never had a surgery and was terrified.
I had my uterus and cervix removed, the ovaries were in great shape apart from the 2 cysts that they removed. I went with my doctors decission to leave the ovaries, not sure what everyone elses point of view is on that, might be a good question to ask your doctor.
It was the best thing I could have done. The recovery process is different for every one mine has been great, just the normal inconviences that are expected and go along with any surgery. As long as you listen to everything they say, take it easy afterwards no lifting etc you will be just fine.
