HI...WELCOME..there are no silly questions only the one not asked !

1. its reccomended to see a gyn post hyster just to screen for vaginal cancer and as above said stds, etc depends on each patients needs. vaginal cancer is rare but the only way to detect it is from a swab thats screened.

2.Ditto to above poster I have never believed in nor reccomended douching....nature creates a PH balance in vagina...douching causes (most of the time) more harm then good. Many women develop yeast infections from this, which are easy to cure w over the counter meds.

any other questions Im here trust me Ive been CL here for 2 years and Ive heard em all, yours by no way are anything less than intelligent questions ,,it could hurt your health to have not asked them.

Good luck

1.  A woman who has had a hysterectomy still have female genitalia and can still have health problems associated with them (STDs, infections, cancer, etc).  That's the simple answer.

2.  Women don't really need to douche - it actually disturbs the natural bacterial balance in the vagina and can cause infections that would normally be prevented by the natural bacteria that live in there.

A hysterectomy does not remove the vagina - which can have plenty of health problems of its own.

Side note: My feeling on the whole "stupid question" issue is that if you really don't know, you're only stupid if you DON'T ask!
