Uterine firoids allergic to hormonee pills

I have had very heavy bleeding since last June. Ferritin levels below 4 hg 102. Take elemental iron daily now up to 3. Last mense was 42 days nightmare. Cannot take progesterone pills -allegic throat swelling. Had to take tranexamic acid  in ER to finally stop the bleeding. Have not started mense this month. Next option (after MRI) will be hysterectomy, I'm 45. I wake up evey morning with pain. started with right hand now its shoulder and elbow. Low back pain started 4 months ago. uterus is 12 weeks size. I have lost 30-40 percent of my hair over 6-7 months. they said thyroid numbers were fine.  Cannot seem to get iron numbers up. Worried if I have hysterctomy I cannot take hormones due to allergies. any advice?  Worried about surgery especially with anemia, but not worried about removing uteris. stressed.

Thanks for the reply. Nice spelling in my title.lol.
I have had a biopsy neg. I had an internal ulta sound. All FamDr said was I had 4 small fiboids. Dealing with a new doc (switched) a month before all this showed up. First symptom was low iron on blood work in May and burning pains lower left ab. had colonoscopy-normal.Told to take iron for low ferritin of 5. Spoke to pharmacist he said Feramax 150mg elemental iron easiest on stomach -it is. THEN July...my periods went nuts. I have never had abnormal cycles. Cramps like labour pains, heavy with small clots. Then the next 2 were worse for heaviness. Then Nov I spotted for 2 days, I thought 'oh maybe I'm done'.  No,  I bled for 42 days, actually hemmoraged, clots etc nightmare!. Tried bc pill (1) had double vision, neck swelling, told to stop them. I then ended up in ER Dec day 42 of flooding, told to take the tan.acid or blood trans would be needed as my hemgb. was 'crashing' doc said. It went down to 97? But the bleeding stopped with one pill, which was good because that pill was awful.  referred to gyno, we both agreed the Mirena iud would not be for me with my reaction to bc. So we are waiting for MRI end of  Feb. results. Fam dr said I was not a candidate for ablasion b'c fibroids are 'intra-something' in the muscles. gyno said ablasion may stop bleeding but prob not and its surgeryalso so  why go through 2 surgeries prob won't prevent a hysterectomy. I feel rushed in my apts.  My big concern is can't get the iron up. loosing my hair, exhausetd etc. oh and fam. dr  had me on 3 iron pills oct/nov ER dr said NO you can't take 3 only 1. Fam dr apt next day- he agreed with ER doc said yea take only 1??    Now I contacted mfg of iron and they said safely take 2 so I am.Plus eating high iron foods.  Gyno said when I expressed concern of anemia and surgery she would clamp everything and do her best so I didn't bleed and have 3 packs of blood on hand in case. that was reassuring (not). If I could go without bleeding I would wait it out- but Its like a noose over my neck, I keep anxioulsy waiting for another period of 40 days (have not bled since Dec 15). to come and then I'm messed b'c I will require blood transfusion. So I resigned to say #$@ it just take the damn thing out.. It was a nightmare last mense  I was in bed for 2 weeks could't do anything or I hemoraged/flooded huge clots etc.. Would love to hear positive things that say yea just have it removed and get on with your life, but I keep reading terrible hysterectomy tales.  Thanks for listening NEW here.

Can they address the issues with a partial hysterectomy? I did a LOT of research on partial hysterectomy. The possible issues they were testing me for were fibroids, adenemyosis and polyps. All are correctable by simply removing the uterus, some being correctable by D&C and ablation. After looking into the procedure, I realized that a partial hysterectomy would be ideal, if the test results prove that I have fibroids and/or adenemyosis. I could keep my ovaries & cervix and leave my hormones intact. Partial hysto can also be done via the robotic DaVinci method which  offers a much easier/faster recovery.

Here's more info on what I am dealing with... it's rather similar to yours with the exception of not having BC allergies.

I had excessive and long-lasting periods for several months, which coincided with a shift in my stress levels. Once I broke down and went to the doc, test results showed that my thyroid was underactive along with having almost depleted my iron stores. Upon re-test a month later, my thyroid numbers were apparently recovering on their own. Evidently, the temporary under-active thyroid sent all of my hormones into a tailspin but they wanted to rule out uterine issues. The doc ordered an ultrasound to see if I had fibroids, cysts, etc. While they found no fibroids. my uterus was the size of a 12-week pregnancy, which led my gyn to figure I had adenemyosis and/or polyps. The next wave of testing included a Sonohysterography (saline infused ultrasound) and a biopsy. Oddly after a month, my uterus was 8cm smaller. Biopsy came back indicating polyps which can be removed via D & C. For now, we're trying an extended duration pill to regulate and hopefully render the polyps dormant. So far, it's not working but doc wants me to wait and see for a few months since I've not been on a pill since my 20s.
