Is a hysterectomy the only option?

I was told I have Adnomyosis.  I'm not in pain, with the exception of a sharp pain here and there.  I have periods too close together, not something I'm loving.  Doctor wanted to give me shot, but good thing I refused these.  I have complicated migraine and complex seizures.  This shot would not have been a good choice for me.

I had a biopsy of my uterus and was fine.  I have enlarged uterus and abnormal, irregular periods.  What can I do besides get a hysterectomy?  I'm 41 and from what I understand, adnomyosis gets better during menopause.

Hi Im the cl here and I had andomyosis,,what it is is the enlargement of uterus, becomes very heavy boggy, sponge like, I saw photos of my uterus before hysterectomy Dr put a insturment under it and it had no form at all kinda just sagged to both sides in the photo, It should be firm .

What happens is this does not get better on its own it continues to get more and more large, mine was ( by time of surgery) adheared to bladder, they had to "peel" it off, I had noticed for sometime I could hardly hold any urine had to go to bathroom very often.

The shot you speak of is likely Leupron it works wonders for some but with your conditions your wise not to take it, also its got a high rate of the negative side effects of severe depression/weepiness. I have had far more ladies report negative about this than positive.

Your condition may very well get better post menopause. Id suggest you ask your gyno for a FULL panel female hormones to see exactly where you are and how far off menopause will be for you. Id guess that you are likely peri menopausal now...most women are done with menopause anywhere between 45-55. So if your hormones are high and menopause is far off for you, you may choose to bide some time, and see how things go,If things get worse you can always go back to dr to discuss hysterectomy.

In the meantime please read up and do web search on the DaVinci Robotic assisted method of this surgery it is the very best method, least invasive, less risk of blood loss and very small scars. I had this and have only 4 ...1/2 inch scars one above navel and three on different pelvic/abdominal spots...

You would be wise to get ultrasounds if you choose no surgery about every 6 months or more if you notice bladder changes. If you can handle the pain...the only real worry is comprimising your bladder and risking bladder prolapse,.( dropping can sometimes cause serious problems) thats why I think you should moniter this.

So get those hormone levels tested please let me know how it goes. Trust your instincts , do not let any Dr talk you into something your not ready for. also get a second opinion if bladder is involved there is a specialist called a urogynocologist would be the dr to see,

Good luck.
