What can I safely take to build my sex drive? I had it before cancer.

I had a hysterectomy and an oophorectomy 10 years ago and continued to still have a sex drive and enjoyment.

Then I was diagnosed with Her2 breast cancer in December 2009.  I had a bilateral mastectomy with lymph node involvement.  I have gone through chemotherapy and radiation and reconstruction.  I feel very good about my body and looks.  The problem is I have no hormones left in my body.  I still have an active sex life with my husband; however I get very little satisfaction from it now.  I do not have a sex drive at all and would like to get it back.  I would like to take something that is safe.

Hi,

I am happy to  hear that you are feeling good about your body and your looks following your breast cancer treatment and reconstruction!

Sexual dysfunction is common among cancer patients, including breast cancer patients, for both physiological and psychological reasons. Numerous articles have been written encouraging doctors, nurses, and other health professionals to be proactive in helping patients attain improvement in their functioning in this regard, which is so important to an over-all sense of well-being.

I would suggest you discuss your lack of sexual satisfaction with a GYN, or if necperhaps at a nearby university or Medical School, essary to get adequate help, a GYN  who specializes in this problem (perhaps at a nearby university or Medical School). Once a full assessment has been completed, any treatment options recommended can be checked out with your oncologist to ensure your safety.

Best wishes,
bluebutterfly

I believe you need to post your concerns on another Forum that is available with Med Help. Your post may be moved to a more appropriate Forum were you might get an answer. You could also consult with your OB/Gyn about this in the meantine.   Thanks ....
