Young and nervous

Hi. I'm 26, have three kids and on August 6th. I'll be having a total hysterectomy. I've been dealing with severe endometriosis since I was 16 (shortly after the birth of our first daughter). it has spread and gotten so bad that I have to take prescription pain pills for the pain. I sometimes have to skip doing things with my kids (ages 10 years, 2 years and 2 months) because it hurts so bad. My husband and I have talked this over for more than 2 years now and we know that we have made the right decision but I'm still very nervous. I'm not sure what to expect and all the stuff I've read online about HRT has me totally confused. Both my older sisters have had a hysterectomy and they both feel great. I know one of them took hormones but only for like a year. How am I supposed to know what type of hormones I need or don't need? What things should I expect after the surgery? I also have heart problems(it beats too fast and my blood pressure drops like something crazy), will this affect my surgery? Or my recovery? I'm afraid of losing my mind afterwards. Hopefully, someone will have some answers for me. Please forgive me if I sound nuts! I've always danced and played sports so now having to go through this has me on edge. Thank you all in advance for any and all advice and prayers.

Thank you! I appreciate the prayers. I'm just hoping that I heal quickly and am able to take care of my kids as soon as possible. The hubby isn't really helpful around the house or with the kids. My mom is coming over from Missouri but she gets easily distracted. She came down in April when I had my son but she was never around to help me with anything. Anyway, thanks again for the prayers!!!

Hi there about your heart symptoms, its very important for you to discuss with BOTH the surgeon and anestisiologist. I am not qualified to answer or speculate as to if it would affect your surgery, Please let them know its very important.

To be 100% honest most women do fine after a hysterectomy, It hurts, it hurts bad, for about three days, then each and every day it gets just a bit better, Normal complete heal time is around 6 weeks.

I have a Journal page all about pre and post op information and hints, just click on my icon and it takes you to my page, then look under my journals for Pre and Post op hysterectomy hints and tips,,,very important to not allow yourself to become constipated post op with the pain meds,,,theres hints to prevent that, buy a ice bag I was amazed how much cold helped with the pain.

Number one most important LISTEN to every word your doctor says about post op doing NOTHING means sitting or laying on the couch and doing nothing,,I started cramping and bleeding on day 5 or so just from sitting on the floor and folding clothes.
take help from people,,,please do read my journal, It will help, If you have anymore questions ,your more than welcome to post either here or to PM me...hugs, Cherie
