can your ovaries grow back

I suffered with endemetriosis for almost half my life.  Finally in June of 2006, I had a complete hysterectomy.  I was still in pain and in october of that same year, I start bleeding again.  I had to be rushed to the hotspital where I had an emergency surgery take out the rest of something that was left inside of me.  The dr promised me that everythiIng was removed and  I was going to be fine.

Well the pain continued after the surgery, and I could not go the bathroom. Now I had another problem.  I suffered for
10  months.  I went to all kinds of doctors  I finally went to an oncology/gyno.  She started treating me, sending c... for all kinds of ct scans, mri ect .....they would  come back neg one month and positive with some kind of cyst.  Anyway, she encouraged me to have a laproroscopy.  I came out of surgery 6 hrs later.  I had to have a bowel recetion ]n, my intestiness were cut and recectioned.    That was two years ago.  I started having pain on my pck.   area.  I went to the gyno, a sonogram and an MRI was done.  Both the test   back  showing a large cyst on my ovaries that possible?  Somebody help

For about 2 yrs. I've had all kinds of digestive symptoms that my doctor calls malignent IBS.  He finally did a CAT scan & then ultrasound.  They showed a 3 cm object where my ovary would be had I not had a hysterectomy 9 years ago.  The doctor who did the surgery doesn't seem concerned & says he doesn't see it on his scan.  He says he doesn't need tosee me anymore.   I've lost one aunt to ovarian cancer & another survived it.  Just about everyone in my family has to have hysterectomies.  I'm not willing to go home shrugging like the doctors knowing a 3 cm foreign object is in me & I have pain, pressure, cyclical symptoms, and an intestinal roller coaster.  This last doctor agreed to send me to a gyno./oncologist.
Do you think think something grew back, was left behind, or something new is growing?   I'm getting weary from more & more doctors, appointments, and tests.  Please help.

Hi, your note gives me a lot of confusing thoughts...are you certain ovaries where removed?  sometimes a hysterectomy is considered just uterus and cervix,,depends on drs verbage..some say hysterctomy/ooperectomy/salpingorectomy..the "o" word means ovaries..the "s" word means fallopian tubes.

a bowel resection is very painful sorry you had to go through that. the Oncologist gave you no positive results for cancer, correct?

endometroisis is a disease that can do some real damge to the pelvic/abdominal area
I had endo also and my ovarywas attached to my bowels
I have a gut feeling the endometriosis was not completley removed..if not it can grow and spread.

If your ovaries were indeed removed,,it is impossible for them to grow back. it is not unheard of for people to get cysts in any area of body..you may have a cyst where ovary used to be..

my best advice to you is to write down every single question you can think of.take it with you to next doctors visit..ask the questions and write down answers.

one way to know if ovaries was removed is it would put you into instant menopause...has this happened to you?

regards.
