cervix stenosis

I am 49, I am perimenopausaI have normal periods.A normal uterine lining and healthy ovaries. As of last year my cervix started to close. I have been dilated three times for this condition. I usually have one to two normal periods after. I then start to have missed periods or spotting periods.girth pain and know when it is time to get dilated. My Dr. said a hysterectomy is the only answer to this problem. Really? Can a stent be sewn in until I am postmenopausal? Thanks

A  stent once in place should not hurt if it does it may need to be adjusted as to placement so youd need to let dr know,,,other than of course it will hurt until surgery site itself is healed..
Yes you can be sexually active ask dr when after surgery be certain to get his ok

I have a similar problem, and will be having a procedure to insert a stent.  Does the stent hurt? And are you able to be sexually active while it is in?

oh..another thought just hit me....there are ways to speed up or induce a chemical menopause...Leupron does this as does some other medications,,,,maybe discussing a chemical induced menopause and a stent would be of help to you.

Hi welcome to our forum..I hope to be of some help to you.  I would certainly not recommend a hysterectomy unless it is the very very last resort and I do not believe this to be the case for you.
Cervical stenosis is treated only if women have symptoms( which you are) , a hematometra,( a blood accumulation not comming out)  or a pyometra ( more rare but basically a pus pocket in the uterus).

Then, the cervix may be widened (dilated) by inserting small, lubricated metal rods (dilators) through its opening, then inserting progressively larger dilators.  asyou have had this done and it seems you will need to keep repeating it...I can tell you the answer to you question
To try to keep the cervix open, doctors may place a tube (cervical stent) in the cervix for 4 to 6 weeks. This is the possible problem Im not sure if you would really want to repeat this every 6 weeks or if a dr would be willing to do it....however that being said its sure worh trying atleast once to see the results.

hugs
Cherie
