does any one know what is a hysoscopy

I have got a letter from my gyn today saying I have to have a hysoscopy preformed. Does anyone know what is and what can  expect afterwards. The next question will it hurt.  What is is the recorvery peroird.
Any help on this  please

Hysteroscopy uses a hysteroscope, which is a thin telescope that is inserted through the cervix into the uterus.  Modern hysteroscopes are so thin they cause little to no pain afterward. You may have some discomfort that should be resolved with otc pain meds .You will expect some light spotting from the cervix .

This procedure is normally done just for diagnosatic purposes,A doctor can actually see inside your uterus.Try not to worry it sounds like your doctors doing the right thing its best to get an accurate diagnosis before going to step two.,
