help!!!!!

have cyst on left ovary and this one is different it hurts worse and i have an uneasy feeling about this one. i have had cysts since i was 17. i also have a hard time going #2 sometimes its like everything swells up and it gets very painful but only lasts a few days. my mother had an emergency hysterectomy when she was 26 due to a ruptured cyst and i am now 27. i have a doc appt on monday to see if it has gotten any bigger but my question is should i push for a hysterectomy? i only want to go thru surgery once and just want all this pain to go away. what should i do????????

Are you constipated at all?  Maybe drinking more water and taking a stool softener at night would help. Sometimes its not always serious, and can be something as simple as that.  I had to throw that out there for you to think about it.

i too had a cyst but mine was on my right ovary and it ruptured about a week later.  i've been having alot of problems with my right side.  my doctor says that i am too young to get a hysterectomy done.  i too have the same #2 problems you do.  i get alot of pain during intercourse so i have to stop.  if i don't get pain during i normally get it after.  i don't know what to think or what to do if you have any insights for me please let me know.  i hope everything goes well for you.

You are only 27 honey, please get to a doctor and have an ultrasound done and find out whats going on. It may not be necessary to have hysterectomy.  It can be so many things. Keep us updated.

You can choose to have a radical where they remove everything.
A partial were they will leave the ovaries
or a they can just remove the ovaries.

My personal choice was based on the fact that I have seen several people in my life who have had a partials and later had to go have the rest done. I for one did not see any reason to take a chance.

My surgery went very well. The only discomfort I really had was for about a week after, I was bloated up. This is caused by the air they pump into while having the surgery. It is not that big of a deal. I had my surgery on a Wednesday and came back to work on Friday. I have a sit down job so it was not a problem. I have not gone through menepause yet, because I am taking an hrt. I have had absolutely no problems or pain since the day I had it.

thank you for your advice. i think the surgery is best too but just wanted advice from someone who has had it done. how long was your recovery? did you go thru menopause? and did it stop all your problems? glad to hear it helped you.

If you are in pain I would have a hysterectomy in a heart beat. There is no reason not to if you have had the children you want. I chose a radical because I did not want to take any chances of having any problems in the future, but is an individual choice that we all have to make. I will tell you that is was the best thing I have ever done.
