help?!?!?!?

Hi. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago yesterday.
I have 2 concerns that I need some advice on...

Since the surgery I have had pain on the right side, severe at times, with moderately foul odor vaginal drainage. I had my right ovary removed (tube was left) 2 yrs prior. I don't know what could cause this pain, should I be concerned?

Last night and alll day today I have been crying uncontrollably.  I don't know if this is due to the anniversary of my mother death coming up or from the hysterectomy and the HRT not being enough dose wise. What do I do?

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

i want to say thanks to all the posts...  today is the anniversary of my mom's death...  very hard to deal right now... I miss my best friend so very much..  my feelings before the surgery hasn't change... I feel I made an awesome decision to have it out w/ all the difficulties I had the past 15 yrs...  I decided to call the doctor today because 8 hours of sleep in 3 days and non stop crying... he increased my HRT, gave Rx for anxiety/sleep... and told me to call doc Tuesday... he believes I am going through what is similar to post pardum depression? doesnt help my demeanor being alone while going through all this, but I most definately will get through this somehow... ;)

Hello,

How did you feel about having the hysterectomy?  I believe it's a combination on things for you with your Mom is an ABSOLUTELY HUGE reason to be crying.  I too lost my Mom and it was the HARDEST thing to go through.  How you felt and now feel about having had the hysterectomy and the fact your body is going through a whole lot too.

The odor is a normal part of discharge after a hysterectomy I was scared about that too.  I did go for a 2 week check up and made them check my urine to ease my mind and it was the NORMAL discharge and odor. :)

My doctors have had their share of calls from me and MY HUBBY.  LOL  They are getting OUR MONEY so USE THEM.  LOL

I get different pains and discomforts off and on and none of us know just what we're suppose to be feeling, because we haven't been through this before.  We're all so different and will experience different things.  The MOST IMPORTANT THING I CAN TELL YOU IS...........TAKE IT EASY, REST, SLEEP AND YOU'LL BE JUST FINE I'M SURE.  Your body has been through a lot and needs A LONG TIME TO HEAL, so give it what it needs and that's TLC!!!

Blessings to you and KEEP US POSTED.  Sharon :)

Hope things go well for you.

You should call the doctor if your pain is severe.  Odor is common along with discharge.  It could be hormonal or post surgical stress or loss of your mother causing tears, or cobination of all those things. Call your doctor, thats what he is there for. Take care.

We have a lot in common...my hysterectomy was a little over 3 weeks ago and they did remove my ovaries and tubes.  My Mother died last May as well.

As far as your pain, vaginal drainage/odor....I really think you just need to call your doctor.  He/she may be able to let you know if it is to be expected or if they would rather see you.  I do have pain but not severe...sometimes I think I may have overdone it a bit, so I am trying to watch it.  ~ Better safe than sorry ~

As far as the crying....I had a crying bout too (which is definitely not me).  I really think your body goes thru a lot with a major surgery....add in the fact of the whole hormone issue and our Mother's death (Mother's Day kind of hit me with it being the 1st one without her)...it is a lot.  If you keep crying...mention it to you doctor....but it could be a mixture of everything.  I went thru old pictures and am focusing on the good memories of my Mother and feeling her strength to get better....and I am allowing myself to relax and recover without feeling guilty about everything that is not getting done at home and at work.  I am starting to get outside even if it just to sit or work a very short distance.

Hang in there....from what everyone has told me, we will be so glad we had this done...we just have to get thru recovery....we are 1/2 way there!!!!
