Cervix bleeding ?

A dr at a clinic gave me a pap test and told me that my cervix is bloody.  I am 60 and have not had a period or any bleeding whatsoever in 8 years.  What would cause this ?  I'm waiting for reports to come back and it's driving me crazy.  Will I need a hysterectomy ?

Hi Susan8888,

You won't necessarily need a hysterectomy. Has your family doctor
given you a recent blood test ? I wish you luck. There are a number of
things which could cause this. Don't be worried. Relax, wait for the
results and wait what the doctor suggests.  Eve

My ultrasound came back normal and my pap test was normal also.  My dr said today he's not sure why she said my cervix was bleeding because any pap tests done with blood showing would automatically be not tested so apparently there was none as it came back normal.  Dr said go see gyno on Thursday and see what he says.  thanks again.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The causes of such bleeding could be ovarian cyst, cervical malignancy, cervictis, fibroids and endometriosis, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone, thyroid hormone imbalance and diabetes. Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, X-ray, biopsy of the cervix and CT scan or MRI brain may also be recommended in certain individuals.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
