Back in june i had sex with my boyfriend for the first time, the next day we had sex again and two days after that. about two days later i got a water infection which i couldnt see the doctor fo till a week later. For two weeks after the first week i was having terrible back pain which sometimes made it difficult to move. The doctor proscribed me macrodantin and i went on may way, a week later it hadnt gone, the nurse prescribed me trimethorprim over the phone and a week later i was still having symptoms but not as bad or ergent so i did a second water sample (god knows what happened to my first) and put me on Keflex. My results came back negative. about two weeks later it was still burning when i urinated, occasionally was urgent and i felt the pressure as i finished urinating and very occasional itching occured. the nurse whe i rang my gp said it sounded like sexual cystitus and to ring back if it didnt go away.

a week later my boyfriend went on holiday and so i didnt have sex for two weeks. it never went away although started feeling better. we had sex when he got back and it burnt so much i had to stop and it burnt for a long time afterwards when i came back from the toilet. It felt like he was pressing in too deep and hurt bad, although this has been the case before when having sex. when we tried in the morning it hurt so much we stopped before we even got it in.

Now i was tested before i slept with him and it came back clear. He isnt the sort of guy to lie and he has only had one sexual partner and was with her for a year, she was his first and he was hers and she isnt the kind who would cheat at all.

i went to the clinic and they tested for chlyamia. I'm really scared. and the back pain is back as well as abdomina. they are both stabbing pains and the back one is just under my bottom left ribs and down.

If this is a bladder infection and you are prone to them, always get up and pee as soon as you are finished with sex.  I know it's a temptation to lay and cuddle but if you get up and pee, you make sure all the bacteria is washed out of your urinary track that might have gotten in there during sexual activity.  A nurse told me this once and it helped eliminate chronic bladder infections.

HI,  the question is-- what is the diagnosis?  25% of women get recurrent urinart tract infections.  They often hapen after sexual intercourse, and are usually treated easily with an antibiotic with quick resolution of the symptoms.  Based on your history it's unclear whether you had an infection when you first developed symptoms.  The initial  urine culture was apparently lost.  We therefore  don't know what bacterial type you has and whether macrodantin or trimethoprim was the right antibiotic.  Since it took over a week to get the infection treated, it may be deep in the bladder wall and may  needed 2 or more weeks of antibiotics to clear. The second culture was taken when you has just finished a course of trimethoprim but was still having symptoms.  You need to obstain from intercourse, and get a urine culture done off antibiotics. Pain in your upper back or under your rib cage could be a kidney infection (pyelonephritis) and needs immediate treatment.  If there is no infection dispite persistent symptoms you will need to see a urologist.  You also need a physical examination including a pelvic examination to rule out a structural problem like a urethral diverticulum.  I agree that this is not likely a sexually transmitted disease.  Interstitial Cystitis is a chronic bladder problem that has similar symptoms to a UTI but the urine culture is clear. You have to have symptoms for at least 3 months to have IC, so I don't think this is it. Getting the correct diagnosis is key to relieving your symptoms.  Good Luck
