Thanks Vivian,
I still haven't heard from my doctor. Are these lab results OK to let go until I see him in August?
I'm not sure if these labs are slightly out of norm or significant enough I should give him a call.
I appreciate your help.
As far as I know, a normal kidney function doesn't rule out kidney diseases. Actually kidney function will remain in the normal range until most of the kidney function is lost. Lots of people with kidney problems only have RBC and protein in their urine in the early stages.
Sorry Vivian - I'm not familiar with exactly what the initials Ccr and Scr refers to.
Does this indicate protein in the urine even if kidney function is OK? Should I be concerned about the protein?
Thanks for your help
Hi Katie, a good way to evaluate how well your kidney is functioning is by calculating your GFR. You can do this yourself. Ccr = ( x your weight ) / (0.818 x Scr ). If you are female, times your final figure with 0.85
If your Ccr is > 90, there's nothing to worry about your kidney function.
A little more information:
The lab gives the following Reference Ranges for the test results:
30-300 Microalbuminuria Mine = 697.8 Microalbumin (mcg/ml)
300 Macroalbuminuria Mine = 888.9 Albumin/Creatinine (mcg/mg)
I haven't heard from the doctor in several days and starting to suspect I won't hear. Is this something that should be checked further or am I OK if I don't hear from him to wait until the next appointment in three months?
Thanks for your help.
