HORRIBLE PAIN IN THE FEET

HAS ANYONE EVER HAD THIS WITH C LL?  JIM WAS DIAGNOSED IN 2005 AT 64.  THE DISEASE HAS NOT PROGRESSED, BUT HE HAS HAD TERRIBLE PAIN IN THE FEET FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS.  ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED.  HE HAS TAKEN ABOUT EVERYTHING TO EASE THE PAIN, BUT NOTHING HELPS.

SEE MESSAGE.

HE WAS DIAGNOSED 3 YEARS AGO, BUT IN THE MEDICAL RECORDS IT SAYS HE POSSIBLY HAS HAD IT 5 YEARS PRIOR 2005.

HE HAS BEEN TESTED FOR NEUROPATHY, DIABETES AND EVERYTHING COMMON.
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE CLL TO SOMEHOW BE CONNECTED WITH THIS PAIN?

HE CAN NO LONGER WALK ANY DISTANCE AT ALL AND HE HAS PAIN EVEN WHEN RESTING.  IT IS A TERRIBLE PAIN.

HE IS ON HYDROCODON, METHADON, AND HAS USED OXYCONTI AND MORPHINE. HE HAS USED THE DRUGS YOU MENTIONED (LYRICA, NEURONTIN) AND NOW IS ON KEPPRA. HE HAS HAD ALL THE TESTS FOR NEUROPATHY FROM NEUROLOGISTS FROM LINCOLN AND THE NEBRASKA MEDICAL CENTER IN OMAHA.

HE HAS BEEN TO AN ARTHRITIS DOCTOR THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY FROM MAYO CLINIC.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE HAS BEEN THROUGH!  WE HAVE EXHAUSTED THE DOCTORS HERE IN LINCOLN!

COULD THE PAIN BE BONE PAIN FROM THE CLL?

DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER IDEAS?

IS THERE TEST FOR THIS?

HIS LAST CT SCAN CAME BACK SHOWING HIS PANCREAS HAS ATROPHIED. THE DOCTORS DO NOT THINK THIS IS ANY THING.  COULD IT BE?

ALL YOUR HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Hi.

If the pain has been already there 7 years ago and he was only diagnosed 3 years ago, then it may be unlikely that the CLL can fully explain the pain.

This could be a separate problem with the nerves, or a primary neuropathy.  This in turn can be caused by nerve root compression (from the spine), electrolyte imbalances (like potassium, calcium, etc) or from micronutrient deficiency.

I suggest he'd discuss these possibilities with his doctors, and also get opinion on prescription drugs such as gabapentin or pregabalin to specifically address neuropathic type of pain.

Regards.

I have had peripheral neuropathy ever since my neurologist put me on it almost 2 years ago. I was fine before that, the meds were tegretal and phoenobarb, I was doing great until that and he is one of those doctors that think they know everything. He denies that keppra could have done that but I have done a lot of research on this drug  and almost 39,000 people have neuropathy since starting it! Dogtors are just for big pharm and how much money they can make off the drug companies for pushing their drugs..
