My name is sarah and my husband has been in between being dinosed with colitis or crohns diease.  In the mean time he has gotten CDAD and is being treated for this,  we have seen cancer specialist that has pretty much says no to lymphnoma  but now all of a sudden his left lyphm gland in his grion is swollen and now has opened up and is draining pus from it.. He is a truck driver nad had to take a trip right after going to ER and being told to follow up with a doctor.. Thing is we have been seeing drs consistently since november 2010 and things just keep popping up..  Is the open lymph node a problem and what about the pus coming out???   He is currently traveling for work.. and trying to get back to see a doctor...

Hi Nickie.
Lymph node enlargement can be caused by a lot of conditions.  Majority of the time, enlargement of lymph nodes is caused by infection near the site.  Lymphoma is another disease condition affecting the lymph nodes.  Another example would be a metastatic carcinoma.
I agree with your decision to consult your doctor.  Work-ups may be needed to determine the cause.  A biopsy of the lymph node would be helpful.
Take care.
