swollen lymph node

I have had a swollen lymph node at the base of my neck at the hair line on the right for at least 2 yrs. I have had it checked a couple times and have taken antibiotics but it does not go away. I have not found any others. What could this be???

Well it is the size of grape and hard. The left side will sometimes swell but not as big and will get sore sometimes. My doctor said it should be biopsied if it dont go away so I guess I better contact her.

that's exactly how my father started: a bump at the back neck hairline that was there for two years. Docs said it probably was a sebaceous cyst, especially since he'd already had such a cyst removed from his upper chest. Or they said it might be a lipoma. But then finally it was removed and biopsied, because it had divided. It turned out to be follicular NHL, and had already transformed to MCL.

It could also possibly be scar tissue from a previous infection.   Sometimes a lymph node doesn't completely go away after an infection clears up.  As Ken said, it's probably best to see your doctor and request a sonogram.

It could be a lipoma, it could be a sebaceous cyst, it could be indolent lymphoma. I'd ask to have a sonogram on it to rule out lymphoma
