hey mayabear i sort of understand what your going because of the fact i just recently went through this.Yes there will be alot of pain and yes i understand why you do not want the narcotics. When my pain got bad i begged for the moriphine drip and it did help but i hated the effect it gave me but the pain went away.I wasnt as bad as you for the fact mine was tylenol related along with drinking but my liver is recovering and all enzyme levels in the liver are now normal.I have been recovering now for a month and a half and i still get the odd bang on the liver feels like stabbing pains. This will continue for me for many months as my liver rejunivates itself.
How are your liver enzyme levels that should give you an inside look of how bad it is and also check by ultrasound if your liver is shrinking or just enlarged, is there any kidney damage these were questions on my mind and perhaps something you should also look into.

Hello Mayabear,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad you found us but very sorry to hear about your condition and pain. My heart goes out to you.

I suggest you see a PMP that may be better equipped to answer your question and find a solution.....Or the physician that is treating your liver failure. I'm sorry but I do not have first hand information regarding liver failure and the challenges it presents.

Although you are always welcome here there may be another MedHelp Forum more familiar with your condition and better able to respond to your question. I will take a look for you and return to this post.

Best of luck to you and please let us know how you are doing.

Take Care,
~Tuck
