Concern for High GGT ??

Sir,

I am suffering from borderline high LDL of 143 mg/dl (direct LDL). For this i am taking daily once half tab. Storvas-10.

Recently, during routine check, GGT (Gamma Glutamyl Transpeptidase) of observed as 133 U/L as against limit of about 35 U/L.

Further, I have checked up for SGPT which was observed as 31 U/L against limit of 40 U/l.

I do not drink alcohol at all.

Kindly suggest me, whether  high GGT is a concerned for me.

Thank you for your response.

The anesthesiogyst that helped with the bone biopsy I had done on Friday. Told me something similar. I know you understand . and say it with a sincere heart and I thank you .
She said something like hope you get your liver soon, cryptogenic liver disease is so aggressive and quick that patients don't get a liver. Now to me that souded synical and rather cruel to say to someone who has the disease. My husband said she did'nt even think and that I am to sensitive. Now she said this to me as she was injecting me with anesthesia. I almost asked her for a triple dose to take me out of my up coming misery.
Sorry you found me on a dark day. My foot surgery did not heal properly , it is infeceted, now they have to redo it while dealing with the infection.. Keep posting to me I really do have a lighter side more often than not    cat

Cat I am sorry to hear that. I too had high GGT for a couple of months and was put into the hospital in March for testing. Luckily, my GGT came back down, only 2 numbers above the normal max level now. The doctors still don't know what caused this and I'm not a drinker either.

Anyway, IF you do need a liver transplant I really hope they find one soon for you.

My high level of GGT after 6 months is what led the dr.s to send me for a biopsy.
Like you I do not drink. don't do drugs ,smoke , If I were you I would be concerned, and get the tests done again ,also if they ask you to get a biopsy DO IT.  Unfortunately it is to late for me to do anything , I have cryptogenic liver disease. So I am now on a waiting list for a liver transplant. I hope a second test will show it to lower.  good luck
