you will likely be advised to get a cat scan of the chest to eval for lung cancer, but with prelim xrays they can only make a best guess. same exact thing happened to my husband nearly 2 yrs ago, found to be stage 4 lung cancer. he's been on chemo ever since, & doing very well.
on the other hand, my daugter had xrays & an mri of a painful leg, & we were told it was a serious form of cancer, turned out it wasn't cancer at all, just an ordinary benign tumor.
so, you'll be nervous till u find out what it is, & thrilled that it turns out to be nothing, hopefully.
if you're a smoker, quit. quit today, cause if you do end up losing part of a lung, you need that other one to be in tip top shape. is it mean to talk lung cancer as a reply to your question? probably, but i've spent nearly 2 years in that reality. one must be prepared for the worst, hopeful for the best. :)
They have found a spot on your lung that needs further testing-probably a nodule.Dont ignore this!!!!!
