Lung liason

I had an abdominal CT scan which was fine but the radiologist spotted a small liason(1cm x .8 cm) on my lung. A second scan six weeks later showed no change in the size of the liason but the radiologist could not say for sure that it was scar tissue.  Today I saw a specialist who has recommended a PET scan to finally determine whether or not it is cancer.  He said that at first glance it doesn't appear to be cancer and that it is too small to get an absolutely clear biopsy.  What is the chance that it is cancer?  I have no symptoms and am a 51 year old female non-smoker who is in otherwise good health.

Hello, I am living the concerning node nightmare since Sept of 2009. I have 100's of nodules and they have been multiplying and growing each scan. Unfortunately they have never been big enough to biopsy.. They also found a spiculated mass that they felt to be scar tissue.I was diagnosed with lipoid pneumonia on top of the nodes. I have never smoked although I have a life long history of lung problems. I am praying of course that my nodes are benin and related to the lipoid pneumonia.. Good luck I will pray for you both....

I am in the same situation.  I had a cat scan for something else which turned out to be fine but they found a very small lesion on my lung which they said was too small to biopsy.  I was told wait 6 mos. and get another scan. I have an appt. for that scan in 4 weeks.  He said if it remains the same size, they do nothing other than follow it.  I don't smoke either and am in good health.  Let me know how your PET scan turns out.
