Lung nodules

I had a productive cough in April and I went to dr. I had a Ct scan and they discovered a 3mm lung nodule. The pulmonologyst said she saw at least 4 more but they are so small the were not mentioned by the radiologyst. I quit smoking (24 yr- 15 cigarette a day) in June after I found out. The withrawal is horible, the anxiety is above sky, back pain , shortness of breath you name it. I am spending hours on internet trying to figure out if I have lung cancer or not, I am due for another Ct scan in January, but till then it will help to have an opinion. thanks

I also quit smoking when they found my nodules in 2009 via CT Scan.  Had originally quit in my 30's and started up again in my 50's for 4 years.  It is never ending after they find nodules.  I have been followed now for over 2 years - and recently even underwent a needle biopsy (my lung collapsed) I had the biopsy done on Thursday got the results on Friday. They could not find any cancer in the 11 mm speculed nodule which was 7 mm in 2009.  So it did grow; diagnosis: fibrosis with inflammation.  When I saw my primary doctor said I still have to have my nodule watched - even though they couldn't find cancer.  I just don't understand.  Hello doctors - I did have a needle biopsy in 2 spots on the 11 mm nodule.  Why are we doing this?  I also have mulli-focal 1-3 mm nodules throughout my lungs.  Worry- worry and more worry.  Julie

If they were concerned that they were cancerous they would have done further exploratory tests.  They want you back in January to see if they are growing in size, they have some rationale about these nodules...by the density of them...they probably don't think they are cancer but are watching you to make sure they don't change.  It is good you have a follow-up.  I have had nodules for 4 years that they watch, I am a heavy smoker.  I envy you for quitting....it makes me nervous...I said my Christmas present to myself this year is to quit smoking.  You are stil having withdrawal since JUNE?  Omg.
