I think I would do the same as you.  It's nice to hear that you have a supportive daughter.

thank you again sky for your kind words i have been doing the e-cigarette for 5 days now and have not smoked and this is working for me this guy telling me to go ahead and smoke it felt like ok your on death row what do you want to eat. my daughter went online got patient reviews of this guy very bad mostly 1 star and only because he can do the procedure. on the other hand my oncologist had 5 stars across the board so im listneing to him and just getting the bronchoscopy from  the other guy.

I can see why this visit really threw you.  The first doctor, the oncologist was very optimistic and considerate, and this guy was the opposite.  I'm hopeful you won't have to deal with this particular pulmonologist after the bronchoscopy, but if you do have to have a pulmonologist involved over the long term, you can consider changing your care to someone who has a better bedside manner.  It shouldn't be hard to find someone who can do better than him on that.

Even if worst comes to worst, and this mass turns out to be cancer, it is not true that it doesn't matter whether you smoke or not.  I have had two people close to me who had lung cancer, so I have done some reading up.  I certainly don't know all of the medical details about lung cancer treatment, but I do know that people who stop smoking respond much better to treatment than those who continue to smoke.  There has been medical research done on that point, but it only stands to reason.

Like the first doctor said, it might not be cancer, and if it is, there are things that you and your medical team can do about it.  I invite you to hang in there with your tobacco abstinence.  There are some medications nowadays that can be very helpful, including Zyban, nicotine gum, the nicotine patch, and Chantix.  Any of them is better for you than smoking.  Some of them can be combined, for better effect.  For instance, Zyban can be combined with either the patch or the gum.

ok went to the pulmonologist today set ugp the broncoscopy and he explained it . the very strange thing is this guy was talking into a recorder most of the time about my case studering asking me some questions. and after all of this said that if not  smoking was driving me crazy not in those words exactly that i sould go ahead and have a cigarette seeing whats done is done. like i have no chance and i said that was a strange thing to say and he said that yes him being a lung doctor saying that and then mentioned something about his mother who had lung cancer. can anyone comment on this. anyway my biopsy should be some tinme next week but this visit really threw me

I can't give you any medical feedback, but I just wanted to say that I am so sorry for the mental torment that you must be going through.  I hope you get some answers quickly.
