That's part of the reason I chose to breastfeed. We can't afford it...LOL
WIC is amazing. Its a little annoying with some of the questions they ask tho. Yesterday when i went i had to fill out a paper on how much i feed the baby and how i hold them. Then lectured me.on how much i.feed them. 4 oz every 3 hours is apparently.too much. But dr said that was perfect. Then lectured me about my weight. Apparently.im under weight. *Eye roll *...
With WIC the full amount of formula given is 9 can if no breast feeding is involved so i get 18 cans a month. Since im prego again i get bread, milk, cheese, eggs,.cereal, peanut butter, beans fruit and veggies... helps alot..
Cans of formula go for.18 bucks here for 12oz can..
I.saw one wwhen i was mothers yesterday. Blew.me away. For a 12 oz can of similac ot was 28 bucks and change! Could.you imagine that ever week or so?? Nuts
It's another benefit that is separate than regular (for lack of what else to call it) food stamp benefits. You get core stuff like milk, cheese, eggs, a limit of fruits n veggies...and if you're breastfeeding they add on tuna and way more eggs. If you feed via formula, they supply it I think for the entire month. They support pregnant women throughout the pregnancy with food as well. They also help monitor you baby through toddler years and I think until the kid is like 5 or so. They monitor weight height ratio, stuff like that. Not sure if it makes sense. They also do free pee tests I think.
I don't know what WIC is, do you get all your formula for free? Or is it discounted? We have nothing like that here...cans of formula are $23 here to buy, no discount, even if on benefits.
Do your babies eat powder formula or the ready made one
Flickan thank you so much. Im ok right now. I called my wic office and by some mirical they are still handing voucers out.. such a relief!
If you have vouchers, the money is there. But if you need vouchers, the office is closed. That's what I was told here.
I've seen girls in the other groups say both so it looks like it varies depending on where you live. I would call your wic office and see. One of my friends on Facebook said where she lives she can still use her vouchers for October.
Yes, they are shut down as well. Do you have any coupons? What are you using? I have some enfamil samples I can send you.
