I think I may have found a solution!

Well, what a couple of days it has been, I went and bought a breastpump Thursday as everyone was saying maybe Bailey doesn't like the taste of formula, thats why he won't drink from the bottle. So i got the pump thinking i could express it, but when i got it home, it had no suction whatsoever! It only worked manually, and it felt like it was ripping my nipple off doing it that way, so since there was something wrong with the electrical side of it i returned it. It was an Avent Single Electric, and after reading all the BAD reviews on google about it, there was no way i wanted a replacement of it. All the other brands are $200+ and i didn't want to waste my money on one if there was still no guarantee Bailey would drink it from the bottle, so i went home empty handed. Then i bought a different brand of formula, i was using s26 Gold, but got the new Karicare Aptimil, and Bailey still wouldn't take it! Then i was at the mall yesterday, and was feeding Bailey in the parents room, when i got talking to another lady who was pumping her milk in there. She said her bub wouldn't take the bottle either, and she had to go back to work 2 days a week, so she gave her bub her expressed milk in a sippy cup! I got quite excited about that, and raced to go and buy one 4months+. But, Bailey still refused it, even with baby juice in it, as he still had to suck the spout quite hard to get it out, and it would've been worse as it was square, worse than a teat! So, back to the shops today, and i bought a 6mnths+ sippy cup, free flow. I put the juice in it agin, and hey presto, it worked! He was holding onto it, and brought it to his mouth and it pretty much slow flowed into his mouth, with minimal sucking. He just kept taking little mouthfuls of it. So tonight i put some formula in it, but he wasn't very hungry, but he still drank about 25ml (1/2 oz) so i'm happy! Which means if i now get a breastpump he will be able to drink my milk. I'm only planning on him drinking from this cup about once a day, to get him used to it. Sorry its so long ladies, i am just so happy i may have finally found an answer!

I have a Medela and just love it but it is quite the investment. I got my medical insurance to pay for it so I lucked out. Do you have Craigslist in Australia? If so you should check there. I know here you can get all the replacement parts for around $30.

@katngary I'm in Australia and i haven't seen a Lansinoh brand pump.....medela seems to be the best one going here. Suppose i could look on ebay. Took Bailey to the supermarket today, and when he started to get a bit whingy, i whipped out the cup with some formula in it, and l let him sip on it while i finished the groceries. Worked a treat. Would love to still get a pump tho so i can give him breastmilk. Decided i'm not going to stress about it anymore, i think it will be easier to worry about going back to work early next year instead, when he's eating 3 meals a day and not relying so much on me.

Yay! Thats wonderful if you found something that works. Not to mention learning to drink from a sippy cup is a great skill.
