Michael Jackson

I just received a CNN breaking news bulletin that Michael Jackson suffered a cardiac arrest?  I need to investigate further - but thought I'd let you all know about it.

Found this in my email today...thought I would share...

Chopra: Michael Jackson had lupus

LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- Dr. Deepak Chopra says his longtime friend Michael Jackson suffered from lupus and vitiligo and had been known to use strong pain medication, People.com reported.

Jackson, 50, died at his home in Los Angeles Thursday. The cause of death has not been determined.

Chopra told People.com children who were physically or verbally abused can develop autoimmune diseases, such as lupus, later in life.

"Michael, he was never sexually abused but according to him, he was traumatized verbally and physically in his childhood, and it was a big issue with him," said Chopra, a spiritual teacher as well as medical doctor.

Lupus can cause skin discoloration, such as vitiligo, and Jackson had "huge white patches all over his body," Chopra said, adding Jackson had taken Oxycontin, Vicodin and Demerol at various times in his adult life.

Chopra's son, Gotham, also a friend of Jackson's, said the pop star was disturbed by reports that he bleached his skin to appear white.

"He identified as being a black person and so it was troubling to him that everyone thought that he was a hater of his own race," Gotham Chopra said. "And the lupus, why he didn't just come out more clearly and say that was the problem, I'm not sure. But I know it was something that bothered him a lot."

I don't know if he did have vitiligo or if it was a cover story for the bleaching of his skin...none of us really know the truth about that, but, it is a possibility that he had his skin bleached so that he was not blotchy looking, due to vitiligo...we will never know the truth about the molestation charges either...he was very talented and very strange...an enigma to the end...

According to his attorney he was being enabled in his taking of the pain meds etc and that his family had tried to stop it, I think we will be hearing a lot more and he had his own private Doctor with him, at least that is what this one news report said  ,the Attourney that got him off his court case, said he had been concerned for a long time but Michael wouldnt listen to anyone .

Hearing about the over-medication just makes his life and death all the sadder.  I never was a fan of his; I always felt sorry for him.  The poster who called him a tortured soul said it best.  Poor, poor Michael.  He was searching for something to "make it all better", and doctors gave him drugs.  THAT is tragic.

Sad...so sad. What I don't understand is what these doctors are thinking prescribing all these meds to these celebrities. They should be held responsible. Yes, I saw the attorney speaking about this and he said he'd been warning the family for years that Michael was being overmedicated. Why did no one take this seriously?

I heard on FOX today that he was taking a lot of prescription drugs and 2 days ago had a shot of Demoral, it sounds like he was on a lot of stuff pretty much like Elvis was, his attorney was on TV and said he wasnt pointing the finger..Yet.smacks of the Anna Nichol story..

No, it's true. There was no secret about his many surgeries to whiten his skin, change his nose, mouth, eyes, etc. It's a shame he felt the need to do that. I actually thought he was a good looking black man. He no longer looked black, or white for that matter, either.
I watched a little of the special on him last night and was a bit fascinated. He seemed so childlike. It was almost endearing. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone quite like him. He did talk about the child molestation charges (taped from a show a few years ago) and it truly did seem that he just loved children being around him, perhaps because he could relate to them and wanted to be a child himself. He said looking on the face of a child was like looking on the face of God. I personally don't think he did molest any children but I do think he put himself in awkward positions that was hard for people to understand. But then, there's no on quite like Michael, either, probably never will be. He's a one of a kind, that's for sure.
Yes, he had his problems but don't forget, he was raised on the stage from the age of 5 years old. I don't think he knew how to deal with the outside world. He seemed like such a delicate spirit. Maybe that's why he withdrew more and more, to protect himself from the cruelties of the world and people, hence the Neverland and all the animals and children he'd bring to visit them. Children and animals were probably all he could trust and relate to, other than the few close people in his life.
He certainly led a fascinating, glittering, explosive, and tragic life, as many celebrities do. Maybe people need to remember he wasn't just a celebrity but a human being like all the rest of us, with feelings, hopes and dreams. I pray he's at peace now experiencing the love of Jesus that he talked about. Rest in peace, Michael. Now you can truly look on the face of God.

i am a HUGE, and i mean HUGE michael jackson fan....but vitiligo?  come on now...lol.

a person who has vitiligo goes through a progression of skin pigmentation changes.  they dont just walk into their house "dark" and appear later "white".

I saw on yahoo news a few weeks ago he was diagnosed with skin cancer. The vitiligo apparently can cause issues too. I guess now we just have to wait for the autopsy results.
I could never stand him in the first place. All my friends went ga-ga over the moon walk and glove thingy. I never really liked his singing, but that is just me! That is not to say he wasn't talented! It must be a shock for his family.

He suffered from vitiligo, a skin pigmentation  disorder, which is in the autoimmune family...if you have one autoimmune disease you are more likely to have another, so maybe that had something to do with his death.  He was incredibly talented, but, he was also broken and had the stigma of being a ********* hanging forever over his head...maybe, he too, is at peace now...

I heard it on the news too. They were commenting about how healthy he was just a while ago.  I'm really shocked. I'm not sure yet if I believe it or not. I need more information.

no one ever knows for sure what causes people to die.  Hypertension/high blood pressure is very common in african americans.  If that was the case then a heart attack was a blessing in diguise.  I believe that no one will ever know the truth. We will only hear what they wat us to hear,

Yes a very sad day.  Farrah, we knew her death was eminent, but MJ's passing is shocking.

Wonder what will happen to his poor children.

I am so surprise by this! saddened too! I had Billie Jean set as my ring tone, I'll have to keep it on in honor of his music and legacy...!!

I was always told that death comes in three's....3 celebrities this week, but I never would have imagined that the third would be Micheal Jackson! I am so shocked, and bummed. Despite some of the stranger things that went on in his life, no one can forget Thiller and the moon walk, and his talent.
