HRT

I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint.  The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes.  The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease.  My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight.  I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily.  I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.  I'm very active, watching my 18 month old grand daughter, I'm NOT a couch potatoe.  I am feeling so out of balance!  Any suggestions?  I know that the estradiol can block the intake of my tyroid meds.  I'd like to go off of the prometrium and estradiol, but fear the severe hot flashes will come back...and I can't sleep with those.  If I do go off of the prometrium and estradiol, how do I do that...cold turkey?

Thanks, I've been bouncing between my endo and my obgyn...they seem to agree, but I'll call by obgyn.  In the past when I was on two different types of birth control my blood sugars were elevated...wondering if I'm an exception to the rule?

Talk to your doctor.  You should only be on prometrium about ten days a month, even if  you are on estradiol all the time.  Neither estrogen nor progesterone affect your blood sugar, unless as you say, it affects your thyroid meds.  Talk to the doctor about all of this in depth.
