Severe Hot Flashes

I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years.  A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches.  I'm still having the flashes.  My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely!  Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes?  I want to keep on bioidentical-type remedies and wondered if something else included/instead of would do the trick. I'd greatly appreciate help!

Thank you very much for your advise.  I will ask my doctor about that.

Hi,
HRT should be taken in the appropriate doses. Higher doses will lead to side effects of the drug. If the hot flashes are too distressing then additional medications like clonidine may help. Clonidine is an anti-hypertensive drug that also helps with the hot flashes. Consult your Doctor.
Take care & good luck.
