I would think the 20 pound weight loss could cause your periods to stop. This happened to me when I was your age. They resumed on their own, but it took over a year.

Have you recently lost any weight? Weight loss in girls your age can result in loss of menstruation.

There are many things that can cause a woman's period to stop. Age and history help to establish the cause. Pregnancy is certainly near the top of the list, though not in your case.  Other common factors are diet (weight gain/weight loss), excessive exercise, and stress.  Hormonal imbalances can occur for a variety of other reasons such as perimenopause or polycystic ovaries. Blood tests can often make the diagnosis.

Talk with your doctor. You will likely need a blood test for FSH, LH, prolactin, estradiol and TSH (a thyroid hormone).  Sometimes a Testosterone hormone is gotten also.  Those blood tests should reveal why you aren't having a period.

The good news is that most of the time, the reason is not dangerous and is only worrisome until you find out why.

How old are you and have you had any reproductive surgeries or issues lately?
