since menopause, falling apart

I had a uterin fibroid embolization 2007, which pushed me into menopause i'm 51 so I guess it's time, the obgyn couldn't get my hormones straightened out so she suggest a hystorectomy, I refused and saw a endocrinologist. He got my hormones straighten out but I have totally fell apart. I am exhausted !!! all the time, ugly dark circles under my eyes (I'v always had dark circles but they are terrible now) I look weak. I just look like I could fall over any minute and I feel like that most of the time too.( had blood work done everything checked norman.) I don't feel like exercising, cooking, getting dressed, nothing!!  My family doc wants to put me on antidepressants (of course). I was on antidepressants for years but went off of them last year because I felt like they were making me worse. I don't feel depressed, but they say you can be and not know it. Is anyone else going thru this? did you start antidepressants, if so did they make you feel better? I have tried a couple of antidepressants but couldn't tolerate them. I feel helpless.

I take a womens vitamin. What do you take? I started taking something for adrenal support and believe it or not I am starting to feel better. I had the test for adrenal (cortisol) and it showed fine, but I read where blood work for hormones doesn't really show what your body is absorbing, but salvia test does, I can't find a doctor in my area that does salvia testing, I just know that I don't feel like sleeping all the time now but I would like to know what you are taking.
Thank you

Maybe that is what I am going thru with the prometrium, I think I am going to try the progesterone cream by KAL next month. I don't see how you tolerate the biopsy every six months. Have you or do you know of anyone who has tried a progerterone cream?

Hi, Lynn,

I used vivelle dot and no progesterone/progestin because I cannot tolerate it.  It causes me to have severe depression.

Now, I have to have a biopsy every six months to check uterine lining.

I take prometrium for 12 days first of every month, this is when I have most of my problems, some of those days I feel like I'm coming down with the flu. As far as the interest in anything, I have none, and if I did I would be too tired to do. My appetite has changed come to think of it. I have actually lost 8 lbs in about a 2 month period. I will exercise for a couple of days then I just lose interest. My sleeping habits have not changed that much. But even after the 12 days of prometrium, I am still fatigued but not as bad. I feel like something is bad wrong with me, last physical was 03/08.

I have tested several different hormones, my obgyn would only put me on the combined patch, they made me feel crazy, so she felt I needed a hystorectomy, so I started seeing a endocrinologist and he now has me on vivelle dot 0.75 and prometrium 200mg 12 days of ea month. I had thyroid checked and he said everything was fine, that these feeling were just a part of menopause. I think I am going to go off my prometrium and next month use a progesterone creme ans see if anything is different. What do you take?

Hi, Lynn

I have been on bhrt but still feel totally exhausted all of the time no matter how much sleep I get.

What hormones have you had tested?  Have you had your thyroid checked, and if so, what were the results?

Hi Lynn - I have not gone through this extreme exhaustion as you are describing except when I was anemic - I'll just make a few comments based on some things I have learned.

First of all, are you experiencing any other symptoms?  Are you saying that you don't feel like doing all of these things because you are tired or are you saying you have also lost interest in them?  How is your appetite?  Do you exercise at all?  Has your weight or sleeping habits changed?
