17 and sudden balding?

Hi, I'm currently 17 and on vacation for a month. Now at the end of the month I noticed a sudden bald spot on my head. I have never had one until now. My parents are not bald and my grandparents who are quite old past 75 are not balding so I am wondering if this may start with me or is it a disease? My friends tell me not to think about it but it is really hard to not notice. Will my hair regrow or will I start going bald? Please help =T

Hi,
As remar has advised, it is better to consult a doctor and get the problem fixed. Since you are on vacation, you also will have required time.

It really would be a good idea to see your family Dr. Many things can cause hair loss. Thyroid problems, nutrition, stress and so on.

Thanks for your response solace!
There are many factors here that could cause my hair loss it seems. I checked with some friends who came with me on this vacation trip and they also noticed my sudden hair loss so I panicked abit thinking I may bald early at such a young age. Do you know how long it takes for hair to regrow and if it doesn't should I consult a physician? I haven't been taking multivitamin pills while I was away because I didn't bring any so it may just be me lacking nutrition but I'm not sure. If i knew how to post a picture of this epidemic, it would probably make it a bit clearer.

Hi,
It may be just that there has been a change in the bathing water, like excess chlorine content, that caused more hair fall. Some times change in food habits or seasonal effect can also lead to hair loss. In such cases, when you go back to your normal environment, they will grow back. Also check up with your other members of the family if there is a real reduction in your hair, since sometimes, it may be just that you feel so. In case there is real fall of hair, without apparent reasons, consult a physician, who may advise you to go for some multivitamin supplementation  if required.
