Can you get sick by... URGENT Question

Can you get sick by just being outside in the cold weather? My mother tells me that if you're outside in the cold weather, you'll probably get sick because "you become so cold!" I don't believe this **** and she keeps telling me that you shouldn't listen to the internet or doctors because you learn from life. Once and for all, I want to change her opinion. Is is true you can get sick by just being outside cold or is it caused by viruses and bacteria?

Thank you.

Your mother might be right. Cold is caused by common cold virus. But if you have a weak immune system, being in the cold weather outside may not help matters.

However, if you are out running in the cold unpolluted enivronment, than it will do a world of good to strengthen your immune system.
