Hiatal hernia-Gerd

Had Ist EGD. with presenting 3cm. hiatal hernia. Have not spoke with doctor yet, but have decided for 2nd EGD and monometry. Both myself and Dr. will have all info. Nurse said I was a good candidate for repair. This gerd has gone on 25 years, I am wore out with it. Prillosec keeps mostly in check, but my eating and drinking are increasingly more restrictive and the the PPI not holding well. Esophagus, stomach and biopsy normal, and my health excellent at 58. On no meds except PPI. Your thoughts please as to my direction  and what relief may I hope for with this scenario?    Respectfully, and thank you. Rick

Thank you for your help solace21. I have too found since having a second EGD, after inserting a capsule(called a bravo) in the gut what triggers worse the ph balance, which are water and chocolate. In the last week I've reduced both, especially water, and been able to reduce the ppi to 10mg daily. The reduction is important due to other articles suggesting a correlation  between ppi's that inhabit the assimulation of calcium. As I am in the osteopena phase(low bone loss) I felt it important to "help" myself with less PPI's in my system. I will pursue the correction of the hernia as this seems to need correction, hoping to yet get further relief form reflux. Again I thank you and hope this new information may help others. Respectfully, Rick.

Hi,
Have a look at the following link for more info:

Apparently, surgery is the right route to go. To add another dimension to your thinking, please refer to the following link also:

Neem seems to help control GERD. But, I do not have any direct experience in this regard, and neem may also have some side effects. So if you want to try this route, do discuss with your doctor first.
