Lower right abdominal pain

I was bench pressing and I felt a pulling sensation on my lower right ab. I’ve been applying ice for over a year now and the pain has receded but not entirely. Could it be a hernia or just a strain?

It could be either.  People often see a bulge in the area when it is a hernia. See anything like that?

Sometimes people that do have a bulge notice it goes away when they are lying down, to add more detail.  If your doctor thinks he wants to investigate hernia, he can offer a CT, MRI or ultrasound.  All would reveal it.  I would give it a bit more time to go away and then get it checked if it doesn't.  But you need to worry about your next weight training session too so that you don't injure yourself if it is a strain.
I have no bulge.
Okay, well.  That's a good sign.  Still get it checked if say in a week it still is sore as not everyone has a bulge.  It's just common.  Does ibuprofen help?  It reduces swelling and pain, so it would be good to give a try.
