Scar on penis

I was curious about a scar that I've had on my penis since as long as I can remember. It runs from where the scrotum meets the shaft up to about two inches below the frenulum. It looks as if there are stiches marks along a thin scar running along the rear side of the shaft. Is there any common operation on a penis that would leave this scar on someone (probably when they were younger)?
