Worry about penis

I am a 25 yr old male. About 3am this morning I woke up and noticed a little pain, so I checked it out, and it turns out there is a reddish colored hard bump toward the base of my penis.. It hurts to touch. I also recently noticed a lot of small lighter skin colored dots on the base of my penis and on the scrotum where the hair grows, so I looked and found a picture online of a similar looking thing.. that was called Fordyce's spots.. which was explained to be harmless. So this reddish bump.. My first thought was a boil or some kind of hair follicle thing... but then, of course, I have to check it out online.. and that just freaked me out! My girlfriend is an RN and i had her look at it too, and her first reaction was a pimple, and she said to maybe try and pop it.. So I did, and it was hard to do... maybe it wasnt quite ready to be popped... I did get a clearish liquid and blood to come out of it. It is Saturday, and my doctor's office is obviously closed. I get very freaked out about these kinds of things. I am probably dumb for worrying soo much, but ya never know I guess. Also I have slept with only two women in my life.. One of which I am with now I have been with her for almost two years, so I would hope that would definitely rule out an STD. I am very careful about those kinds of things. I guess my question is.. What could this be? Are my instincts correct?

yeah, I figured it might be a infected hair follicle. it is red and kind of a hard bump. I thought about it after I popped it. made me worry..Things like this scare me. but again.. Been with the same girl for almost two years now.. and the one before her for eight years, single for two years in between with no sexual partners... So the thought of an STD of some sort is a very unsettling thought, yet almost a ridiculous thought at the same time. The internet scares me too. probably the dumbest thing I have ever done was look up pictures and facts on google. of course it led me to this site... but the initial shock of what I saw put my worrying into overdrive. it doesnt hurt unless I move a certain way, touch it, or lay on it. kind of like if i put pressure on it, it feels irritated. I am assuming it is red because I tried to pop it, and probably irritated it. The STD thing really freaks me out, but then again... my girlfriend has nothing wrong at all. I mean I am a little overweight, and it has been rather hot, and I have definitely been sweating.. so maybe a pimple kind of thing is actually a relevant thing to think about? I am sorry, its just that things such as this are scary to me, and I feel stupid most of the time for worrying soo much.

Your question about spots on your penis and scrotum, reminded me of my freshman days in college. I had similar spots on my penis near the area where hair grows. I had a few of the spots on my scrotum, and why I decided to pop one of the spots, I will never know. The spot became red and sore and the next day, I had an infection with pus. The doctor had to lance the infection and gave me antibiotics, and I got well very quick. The diagnosis was that the spot was an infected hair follicle. I caused the infection when I poped the spot. Today, the clear to white spots  still remain on my scrotum.
