Miscarriage and tonsillitis

Hie everyone
This is my 1st post here. I`ve got two beautiful children and before my first child I had a miscarriage at 6wks. I got preg with my 3rd baby in June this year but I miscarried on 30 July. I immediatelt fell preg again in August but at six weeks I was mistakenly diagnosed with and ectopic pregnancy. The mistake only surfaced after I had refused treatment coz I was 100% sure that I did not have an ectopic pregnancy and had requested a re-scan. They found a fetal pole and a york sac in the gestation sac in my uterus. Unfortunately when I went for another scan a week later they said my gestational sca was irregular shaped and it was empty and diagnosed me with a `not viable preg`. I opted for a natural miscarriage hoping that they were wrong again but I miscarried on 18 Oct, 6 weeks after the diagnosis. I think tonsillitis has something to do with my miscarriages because with both miscarriages I had severe tonsillitis just before being diagnosed with a missed miscarriage. My Dr doesn`t think so, But I`m convinced. Has this happened to anyone? I would like to try again soon but I`m worried the tonsillitis would `kill` my baby again. Am I paranoid or what?
I went for my check up today and they said there was still pregnancy tissue left over in my uterus but they didn`t seem concerned and said the body should get rid of it within the next few days. My preg test is still positive. I don`t want to end up in theatre after avoiding surgery for this long. I was hoping that I will be joining the ttc group soon but everything seems to be taking so long.
Sorry for the long post.

Thanx for your advice. I`ve decided to book my gown for a week so that DH can pick it up for me and I can at least have pictures taken at home. My sister is also coming to look after the kids for a week and DH will take time off work after that. If I ask them to postpone the surgery, I`m most likely to get another date months from now. I don`t think I can wait that long coz I want to ttc again beginning of the year.

I would postpone it for sure!! I promise you that it takes a lot longer than you would think...I coach cheerleading and our award ceremony was the week after my surgery and I told all of the girls that I would be there...There was no way I would have made it even before I had the emergency surgery! It is great because I have only had a cold this year as opposed to spending half of my time in the dr.'s office sick!! My dr. told me he wouldn't even do the surgery unless I had someone to take care of my kids 24/7 for 2 weeks...And I still didn't think it was that big of a deal. Why did it take so long for an appt.? My sons was scheduled for 3 days and mine was scheduled for 2 weeks....I hope that they can get you another appt. because even with what I went through I wish I would have done it sooner!

Thanx for the info about tonsillitis. I actually have a dilemma coz I `m graduating from University the day after surgery. I really didn`t want to miss the graduation but from what I`ve heard, I might not be able to make it. It took me a long time to get this date for a tonsellectomy so I don`t want to postpone it. I will let you know how it goes.

I have always had a weak immune system and I used to get strept throat a least 5 times a year...I finally had my tonsils taken out last January and I haven't got sick since! When you have it done you need to really really really listen to what the dr.'s order's are afterwards! Nine days post op I was moving around too much and had an artery rupture in my throat and almost bled to death! So when they say it takes 2 weeks of not doing anything they mean it... Good luck!

When I miscarried in July I pushed my GP for a referal to the hospital so that I can have my tonsils taken out because I was convinced they were the cause of my miscarriage. I went for my app with the consultant end of August and then I discovered that I was pregnant again and forgot about the tonsellectomy. Things are a bit slow here in the UK but today I received a letter giving me a date for the tonsillectomy. Its on the 21st of Nov, I think I will go ahead with it coz even if it might not be the cause of my miscarriages, its better to have them out of the way coz due to all the stress I`ve been having attacks every four weeks or so. I also think focusing on the upcoming op will stop me from obsessing about getting pregnant again. Thank you all who have replied, it nice to know that what I`m going thu is normal and I`m not going insane. God bless.

I know that healing is incredibly difficult, and I can't imagine how physically and emotionally drained you must feel.  I would definitely get very direct with my doctor.  I told mine that we wanted to conceive as soon as possible (even when he recommended waiting 2 cycles), and he said that I should do a D&C.  I don't mean that you should do that, but it might be helpful to really push him and see what he recommends.  He may have other ideas that men don't readily suggest unless they see your point of view.  No matter what he says, you might request that he check your blood HCG levels to see if they're still decreasing.  That might give you a better idea as well.  Good luck, and come post with us anytime :)

Don't feel bad.  I hide my HPT's from DH.  He's just better off not knowing.  I didn't hide the OPK's, but I didn't exactly set them right on the counter either.  Also, even if you aren't actively TTC, there is nothing wrong with wanting to track your cycle, so that when you do start you are 1 step ahead of the game.

The healing process is all a part of TTC, you are doing what needs to be done to have a healthy pg.  Just like BBT's and OPK's and everything else us crazy women do, it's all in vein if we haven't healed emotionaly and physically first.

Lots of luck to you :)

Hven`t looked up about the OPK yet, hadn`t though about it. DH hubby doesn`t know I bought so I will look it up when he`s not around. I`m being dishonest and I feel so bad about it.

Thank you all for your advice and support. I can`t believe I spent all this time lurking and missing out on all this support. If friends and family haven`t gone through this themselves they find it hard to support. DH wants us to heal first and then ttc again next year and I was disagreeing with him but after hearing from you all, I think what I need is healing and not another baby. I haven`t reached that place yet, but this is my first step in getting there. Will keep everyone in my prayers

I am so sorry for your losses....That is weird about the OKP...Have you tried looking it up to see why it might have come up +. I hope that your body heals and everything works out so that you can join all of us ttc soon :D

I am very sorry for you loses.  I concur with what Mapes said.  I also put up some info about ttc after m/c in the post titled Miscarriage by Krazy.

IMHO, the most important thing is to get your body back to 100%.  If you try too soon, you may just risk another m/c.  Try to stay healthly and relaxed and when you are ready, feel free to join us on our journey to ttc after m/c.  Also, if you feel like you are going to ttc again, you should stay on your prenatals.

I`m also a bit confused coz two days ago, out of curiosity I used a digital ovulation kit and it showed a siley face. Could the smiley face have been caused by the pregnancy hormone? I`m really dreading having a d& c. I think deep down I know the tonsillitis has nothing to do with my miscarriage but I just need something to blame it on. Its so hard, this is my third miscarriage, I had another one before my two children. One of my friends gave birth last week, the other one is due on Valentine`s day and the othe one is due the same week as I was before I miscarried. Thanx for the reply.

I am so sorry for your losses.  I have never heard of tonsillitis causing a miscarriage, but I know some antibiotics can cause issues.  I have also heard that some people who get pregnant right after a previous miscarriage have a repeat miscarriage because the lining of the uterus is not strong enough to properly maintain a pregnancy.  I ended up having a D&C because my body was not disposing the tissue.  My doctor said that he would do a D&C if I had a natural miscarriage with retained tissue.  Your pregnancy test will be positive until your body releases the tissue or you have it removed.  You will also not ovulate until the tissue leaves your body.  Again, I am so sorry.  Please feel free to post anytime.
