Had a D and C last week and have a check up in two weeks. I am curious how women are getting pregnant 2 weeks after this procedure. I had a missed miscarriage and my husband and i are very anxious to try again! just dont know if i should wait til I get my first cycle.

Yeah, im scared it will hurt physically! I go to the doc. on the 4th so im just waiting for the okay! lol. My doctor just advised us to wait 3 months to try again, but to refrain from having sex til I got the okay! How long did you bleed from the d and c? Its been over a week so I called my doc today to make sure it was still okay... and they informed me if i had fever or pain that would be abnormal but bleeding was still okay....So are you currently trying again before you receive your AF? I hope that it doesnt take 4 to 6 weeks to get my AF, Im tired of waiting. lol. but when God is ready he will bless me with a beatiful healthy baby! :) keep me posted if you become pregnant! Good luck to you! :) and I have been taking prenatal as well and a folic acid pill hoping that it will help me get back on track. did you go to a 2 week check up and see what your numbers were in your blood work? I keep hearing that you have to be back down to 0 before trying again. that way you have an idea of when you conceived and so on...

I had my DnC Sep 10 and  well... i waited about 1 week and 2 days until I actually had sex and it hurt a little bit so I waited another few days and its wasn't too painful but I am hoping that maybe I can get pregnant soon as well. You will know when its okay to have sex but definitely don't do it before you or your body is ready... it just hurts emotionally and physically.  My doctor told me to wait 2 months but he also said that for some women its always a pleasant surprise if it happens sooner and told me to keep taking my prenatals (folic acid) best of luck to you! <3

Well, I was hoping to be one of those ladies that could say it worked the first time for me but AF is coming now so I'm not.  It took 6 months to get pregnant when I miscarried so if it takes that long again I'll surely be depressed.  I would have been due in two months from today so I'm pretty bummed out right now.

I waited the three cycles and then tried again.  We first tried in April and then May. Didn't try in June or July.  Tried again August and got pregnant, but then had another mc just last week.  Since it was so early I opted for a natural mc and no d&c.  Suppose we'll try again after my first cycle.  Good luck to all of those who are TTC again.

Thanks.  I'll do the same for you.  The wait to TTC is very hard.  I'll know in a few days if it worked this cycle.  I've never gotten pregnant the first cycle so I'll be surprised if I did.

I was in your same boat and I was told to wait at least a 1-2 full cycles if not 3 before TTC again.  I was told pregnancy hormones can stick around for up to 2 months after a miscarraige.  Also like you said its a good idea to wait so you can figure your cycle out again.  Definitely go with what your doctor tells you and best of luck to you!

Yeah, i go to see my doc on Oct 4th for my 2 week check up. I hope he checks to see if my bloodwork has went down, b/c im hearing its best to wait until it is back down to 0 so you kinda know where you stand if you take a home pregnancy test and it wouldnt be false b/c of the last miscarriage... My husband and I are very anxious to try again. We are making the best of the situation. But my heart aches so bad b/c you base everything around the due date the doc. gives you and then you wake up everyday trying to grasp all that is gone. It only took us 2 months of trying the first time to get pregnant. and i just try to calcute my days to see when i was ovulating. but now after this procedure im not sure what to expect. I guess Ill just wait for that one cycle to pass so that i can actually have a pretty good idea of when i ovulate and Ill keep praying that god has this in his plan.... Thank you guys for sharing with me. and Pb95 good luck and ill be praying for you! and Scout8601 were you able to concieve after the d and c?

I had to have 2 D&C's back to back because I was bleeding excessively after the first procedure.  I didn't ovulate the first month and got a light period after 5 weeks.  My second cycle had some EW CM but I didn't take my temp or use an OPK to know for sure.  I am in the middle of my third cycle and it is normal.  We TTC this month so who knows!
One very interesting thing is that I had an ultrasound on my uterus two months after the D&C's.  I was in my 4th day of AF.  The report said that I had a very thick uterine lining.  I was very surprised because of only being two months after being scraped and after the 4rth day of AF.  I think the body recovers quicker than we think.  If your body isn't ready it won't get pregnant.  Best of luck to you.

You will ovulate after the d&c, but when after is the question.  I typicall ovulate 2 weeks before my AF, so that means I probably ovulated about 4 weeks after my d&c (bc I got my AF 6 weeks after the d&c).    Therefore, if I had had sex at that time I might have gotten pregnant and I would have never had AF after the d&c.

And don't worry about all the questions. I know I've asked tons.

Thank you guys for you very helpful information.  Im sorry for both of your losses as well. I read all of these positive stories of women getting pregnant 2 weeks after d and c and carrying and delievering a healthy baby. makes me smile. gives me some hope. i have a step daughter but its not the same.... i know this is all going to be very hard. on top of all of this my brothers wife was a week behind me in her pregnancy. well her pregnancy is going great. so i have to suck it and smile everytime i see them which is very hard right now... Im just really anxious to try again and want to do everything the correct way as the doctors recommend but all these women say that you are more fertile after the d and c is that correct? im going to ask my doc. in 2 weeks but im just not sure how these women dont even get a period and can concieve. do you ovulate after a d and c? sorry so many questions this is all so new to me. thanks for listening and helping me thru this.

I'm sorry too for your loss.  I had a D&C back in January and my doc told me three months as well. He said b/c the d&c scrapes the uturine lining away it needs time to build back up so an egg can implant; that's what mine said anyways.  I decided to wait those three months  bc  I was still so devestated by my mc that I thought I wasn't ready emotionally. I got my first period about 6 weeks after the d&c.  Good luck

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a D&C in May. I had to take Provera to get my AF to return when it hadn't shown in 8 weeks after my D&C. I've had 2 cycles on my own since then but no luck yet. You should ovulate after a D&C, that is what will bring on AF. They say AF should return 4 to 8 weeks after. I'm not sure I did ovulate though so it is possible that you will need help to get things going again. Give it some time and see how it goes. You will go thru alot of emotions for the next few months but I'm sure you will be ok. Good luck to you. I hope you get your BFP again soon.

Yeah, the doc. said 3 months is a good time to try and then on top of that who knows how long it will take to get pregnant. I so bad just want to be a mom. I was reading everyones responses and they said after two weeks that they were trying again already, but i wasnt sure how they even knew they were ovulating. do you ovulate after a d and c?  this is all so much to take in and accept. I wake up still thinking im pregnant sometimes and have to tell myself that i was at one time... i never thought this could happen to me.... I know God has a plan and im not gonna question that plan, but im ready to start trying again. this is so hard b/c every woman is different!  Did you have a d and c or natural miscarriage? and how long did it take for you to get your first cycle? and did you just buy the opk test to monitor if you were ovulating 14 days later? sorry so nosey, just so curious of how soon we can try again to heal our broken hearts :)

Sorry to hear about your loss. :( I think it is highly recommended to wait till after your first cycle to start trying again; it makes it easier to date the pregnancy as well as gives your body some much needed rest. Consult your doc to see what he/she recommends. My doc recommended 3 months but I only waited till after my 1st cycle. Waiting 3 months sounded like torcher. Best of luck to you whenever you decide to start trying again.
